Add an SSL Certificate to your Player

To secure your SG2/SGL player for GDPR compliance, we need you to please action the following steps.

A) Verification of SSL with a CNAME Record

We have created a SSL certificate which you will have received as an email attachment. In this attachment you will find a DNS CNAME record. You will need to add this CNAME record to your domain’s DNS records or contact your domain host for help adding the CNAME record.

To add the record yourself, follow the steps below. See your DNS provider's help section for more specific instructions:

  1. Go to your domain’s DNS records.

  2. Choose to add a record to your DNS settings, and select CNAME as the record type.

  3. Go to your DNS Configuration email attachment to get the content of the Record Name field.

  4. Paste the copied content into into the Label/Host field in your new DNS record.

  5. Go to your DNS Configuration email attachment to get the content of the Record Value field.

  6. Paste the copied content into the Destination/Target field in your new DNS record.

Your record should look similar to the table below:

Record type Label/Host field Time To Live (TTL) Destination/Target field
CNAME _2f130007ab5.my-domain.com. 3600 or leave the default

    _83900001f.acm-validations.aws.

  7. Add your record. This will save the CNAME record and validated the SSL Certificate for use on your player.

B) Reduce the TTL settings on existing A and CNAME records

We need you to reduce the TTL settings on existing DNS A and CNAME records to 300 (5 minutes). This will allow us to updated your player quickly when migrating to SSL.

You will need to edit the existing Harvest Media DNS A and CNAME records or contact your domain host for help editing. If you are unsure which DNS records to edit, please send us a screen grab if your configuration and we will confirm.

To edit the record yourself, follow the steps below. See your DNS provider's help section for more specific instructions:

  1. Go to your domain’s DNS records.

  2. Locate A and CNAME records that point to HarvestMedia Services/IP addresses. Please note you will only have an A record if your HarvestMedia CNAME is for "www".

If you have a "www" HarvestMedia CNAME your records should look similar to the table below:

Record type Label/Host field Time to Live (TTL) Destination/Target field
    CNAME www 3600 sgl.harvestmedia.net (amp) OR sg3.harvestmedia.net (Pro3)
    A   3600 54.82.242.55

Otherwise your record should look similar to the table below:
Record type Label/Host field Time to Live (TTL) Destination/Target field
    CNAME search 3600 sgl.harvestmedia.net (amp) OR sg3.harvestmedia.net (Pro3)

  3. Adjust the TTL values to 300 on the above records.

  4. Save your record. This will update to your existing records.

We will provide you with a second CNAME change to migrate your player to SSL once the above steps are completed.

Finally, if you would like to provide Harvest Media temporary access to your DNS records we would be more than happy to facilitate these DNS additions on your behalf.
